India bureaucrats are upset with the pictures of Manhmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi in compromising positions on social networking sites.

On Friday, the federal government told a New Delhi court that there was sufficient material to proceed against 21 social networking sites for offenses of “promoting enmity between classes and causing prejudice to national integration,” according to the Press Trust of India news agency.

Convictions could bring fines and up to five year imprisonment but the prosecutors have not accused any executive from these companies.

In December, Telecommunication minister Kabil Sibbal told that he had been talking to representatives of major internet companies like Google and Facebook to come up with a voluntary mechanism to keep offensive material off the internet. The companies told they could do nothing about this.

This whole drama is very unfortunate for the Indian economy. India is a major player in the field on software and internet. Rulings like this could only project India as a mentally backward nation in the world which is looking forward to India with great prospects.

India government should not behave like this, although it’s a court ruling but then also no court in the world is allowed to suffocate human expression.

Google is planning to launch an interactive game based on its fledgling social Network, Google Plus. The game will be based on indoors and outdoors maps found in its Google Map Service. I knew Google was going use Google plus data very time soon as It used to use Twitter data in Google instant. Security experts warned that the stealth computer virus Ramnit has stolen more than 45000 Facebook passwords.

Ramnit has been been around since April 2010, known for stealing financial details but its transformation into a social virus is startling even for experts.

Seculert’s research lab has discovered that Ramnit recently started targeting Facebook accounts with considerable success, stealing over 45,000 Facebook login credentials worldwide, mostly from people in the UK and France.

“We suspect that the attackers behind Ramnit are using the stolen credentials to login to victims’ Facebook accounts and to transmit malicious links to their friends, thereby magnifying the malware’s spread even further,” said the researchers on the firm’s blog.

 

“In addition, cybercriminals are taking advantage of the fact that users tend to use the same password in various web-based services to gain remote access to corporate networks,” it added.
